Several members of Australia’s islamic community are protesting PM Scott Morrison’s response to the Bourkse Street terror attack which left one person dead and two injured. We are becoming accustomed to this phenomenon: Muslims assuming the role of “the real victims” after an islamic terror attack. The dead, then, must be “the fake victims”.
This case is especially egregious because the Prime Minister referred specifically to “radical, violent, extremist Islam”. While that small sliver of realism is a step forward from the usual complete omission of any connection between Islam and Islamic terrorism, it is already going too far for the complaining Muslim leaders. This is how moderates are complicit in the actions of extremists.
