Denmark’s common sense refugee policy: only few allowed, have to work, and must return

The Danish government has made it clear that it will allow very few refugees to come to Denmark from now on. Those who do have to work for their income, and have to promise to leave the country again as soon as their homeland is safe to return to.

No open-ended invitations, no free ride. They intend to have an active deportation policy for rejected asylum seekers, and to form a policy that states working in Denmark does not entitle immigrants to citizenship, while requiring immigrants to acuire their own income as long as they live in Denmark. The government will have some challenges figuring away around international conventions – but if they have paid attention to President Trump at all they should know they can simply withdraw from those.
