Hungarian town “too white and happy” to become EU Capital of Culture

Voice Of Europe reports that the jury for the EU Capital of Culture 2023 rejected the bid of Székesfehérvár (Hungary) because their promotional video showed “too many happy white people and crosses, and not enough migrants”.

VoE cites an article from Hungarian news outlet which notes that there were only seven semi-finalists left, but the jury further commented: “This is a propaganda film for white Christian Europe; everyone is white, happy and dancing in the streets.”
