MSNBC host Kasie Hunt casually mentions on air that Rand Paul being attacked by his neighbor that “this might be one of my favorite stories”. She appears to be corrected immediately as she stops gloating at the Congressman’s serious injuries and continues to the story.
So, this is what’s funny to Kasie Hunt:
Five broken ribs and bruises to his lungs. That’s what’s funny to Kasie Hunt. Apparently unprovoked, Rand Paul was attacked from behind by his neighbor, Rene Boucher. Although mainstream media rushed to explain that the attack was sparked by a dispute over lawn maintenance, but by now it’s looking more likely that there was a political (and therefore arguably terrorist) motivation. Boucher is a fanatical left-winger, vocally anti-Trump. And other residents have said they don’t believe the lawn maintenance angle that was at first dominant in the media.
If a crazed right-winger attacked a popular left-wing politician, the mainstream media would be working at lightspeed to politicize the matter. When it’s the other way around, their priority is to downplay and to remove the political angle. This is why we need free press, and mainly independent press online.
